Summary

This guide was developed by the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges in partnership with NNEDV. Although it was last updated in 2018, many of the principles and mechanisms for documentation remain relevant, and so the examples and information can be applied to the constantly changing technology environment. For the most updated instructions on how to take screenshots or access information for a platform, account, or device, always look to the official documentation from the developer; for example, Apple’s personal safety guide, Meta’s Privacy Center, or Google’s account safety review.

Advocates can help survivors organize their evidence by making a chart or using a template like the one found here.
